New Dundee band Pensioner have put up a sneak preview, of what’s to come, on their MySpace page. Goodbye Tension Hello Pension is their first wee demo release, so head on over and have a listen. The band includes members from two well known Dundee bands; Alamos and Juliet Kilo. There’s already discussion on the forums.
This is an exhibition project presenting new works and including a symposium and exhibition tour. The artists will also be present in the gallery for much of the show run continuing with this body of work and interacting with the audience.
This exhibition combines presentation, debate and making on the themes of art, life and death. A new projection work will be juxtaposed with historical artworks in the gallery. The artists will be present in the space producing work through dialogic reflection on the exhibition and its themes. ‘LIFE IS OVER! If you want it’ derives from the artists’ familial experiences of death by assisted suicide.
The exhibition also includes wall drawings from Tracy Mackenna and Edwin Janssen’s ongoing series THE JOHN & YOKO DRAWINGS, 2000 – based on a poster made by John Lennon & Yoko Ono for their peace campaign in the early seventies: ‘WAR IS OVER! If you want it, Love and Peace from John and Yoko’. The drawings address a range of social, political and cultural issues.
