I seriously think Virgin and FOPP tie on staff friendliness though, because they're the only places where I've had people comment on my purchases.. HMV have NEVER ever done that. Even before I knew Mike & Alan through this they were friendly and Mike commented on Television albums and the Dogtanian DVDs, and Alan on a Smiths album! I find Groucho's possibly THE worst in friendliness stakes to be honest, it has that slight air of snobbery but maybe that's just me being paranoid.. some of the staff are nice though.

I would agree with Ritch on the fact that you just have to shop around because they can all be so unpredictable depending on what they have on their offers, and sometimes stuff you're looking for will only be available in one of them. They're all so bizarrely erratic on price and selection at times.

Fopp is closest to my work though so it's always good for breaktime browsing, or picking up something new if I'm short of time and in its current 5 quid range (last time I checked) you could buy EVERTHING the Smiths ever did. Not that I'm bitter at paying fullprice...

FOPP wins!
