man the Sun hasnt been purchased for years in Liverpool, there was a unofficial ban on selling it in newsagents after the coverage they gave of the Bulger case. I was too young to really understand the shit at the time, but my family always told me to never buy the sun.
Its amazing what Liverpudlians can do when they put their mind to it... Theres been a number of citywide boycotts in a similar way over the years. Theres a real 'socialist' streak in Liverpool, or whatever you wanna call it
