Wee, that is entirely unfair.

1) The show WAS advertised. Posters had gone up around the town during the week and numerous mailing lists and messageboards had been informed.

2) "Alex writes some decent songs but they should be kept strictly lo-fi. Also, his on-stage persona did him no favours. Some people can pull off the "I can't be arsed with this" rock n roll attitude, but Thee Alex most certainly can not. Especially when he books the gigs he is playing at." - I was NOT attempting any 'rock n roll attitude', I was playing a show using my laptop which is something I haven't done before...I was also in a situation where I knew everyone in the room and was just kind of chatting to them. To say I wasn't arsed is deeply insulting.

3) "but in this case there was a horrible mp3-sans-vocal feel to the set" - there were NO mp3's used at all. The whole thing was being mixed live in Protools as I went along. As I said, this was the first time I had EVER done a show with a laptop - cut a guy some slack eh?

4) "But first, the noise. I know it's not really the done thing in the scottish music scene, but a little professionalism goes a long way. Far be it from me to dictate how a band should act, but might I suggest learning the songs before playing them live? Perhaps writing a set list? Maybe sound checking?" - OK, you seem to be COMPLETELY missing the point of Lipsick!, that is to HAVE FUN! We DID soundcheck but to be honest we find soundchecking so utterly tedious that we try to keep as short as possible. As for rehearsing, we know the songs well enough to be able to enjoy playing them. Set lists are for cunts. Perhaps you would like us to have some fireworks and dancers next time??

5) "This is a man in serious need of a sense of decorum. Kirstin is the main songwriting talent in this band, but to see them live would suggest otherwise. Alex spent the entire set with his microphone an order of magnitude louder than Kirstin's (his supposedly backing vocals veering dangerously towards line-on-line-off frequency), and bouncing around stage like an adult making an insulting impression of a hyperactive 12 year old. " - Oh Fuck off you self righteous little tosser! Microphone - I had NO idea my vocals were loud, it wasn't intentional. Bouncing around - I was ENJOYING the show, I get the feeling you would rather I stood there like an overly reverential, po-faced statue. If Kirstin wants to move she can, you saying I shouldn't won't stop me.

6) "I feel that Kirstin needs to take more of a lead, and Alex desperately needs to learn to take a back seat once in a while." - and I feel you need to shut the fuck up. The band is BOTH OF US. Get that into your thick skull.

7) "Was this Germlin's set, or were you abusing the hospitality of the Beat Bar?" - it was Germlins set, as you would have known if you hadn't fucked off upstairs. As for abusing the 'hospitality' of the Beat Bar?? They acted as if we were doing them a MASSIVE disservice being there. I can't be held responsible if most of the people who would have been at the gig happened to be across town at the Revoltfest. The people who did go bought drinks, behaved well (no broken toilets) and had a good time....if that is abusing the hospitality of the Beat Bar then I would suggest they need to get a grip.

Alex, that 'review' was nothing more than third rate hack-ery and I can't believe you wasted all that time typing it out.
