right, gotta agree with this. spot on mate. girls aloud are equally as good as devon townshend because noise is noise. people enjoy different forms of noise, some cats come to a 'ssss', some cats come to a 'purr' sound.
this is a fundamental thing, people like a specific noise because of circumstances... family/friends influence... state of mind... age... and loads more but most importantly the media.
devon no doubt had to put years of blood, sweat and tears into gigging and building a fanbase, no doubt he plays an instrument and has a band (i have no idea) and probably had to pay for his entire breakthrough himself by scrimping for demo's, fuel between gigs etc. and a fucking million other things. he's done this for aeons and he is still garnering new fans here and there with every year.
girls aloud were 5 nobody's, probably ambitionless and hadn't actually thought of a career in music, but 2 months after applying to an ad they had a number 1 single. in those 2 months they had already made steven cowell and the pop idol chairmen millions and multi hundreds of millions in revenue from being across 3 channels, 3 times a week and being paraded for 14 odd million people to fone in at £1 a time and text at 50p a time. "get girls aloud figures with your bigmack", "chance to see girls aloud live inside this pepsi can" etc.
i hope people get the jist. some people work their ass off and gain a handful of new fans every day, but these fuckups get forced into a life of parties and luxury lifestyles but have a novelty that wavers after their first single and quickly fade away, and by this time they are probably richer and more well known than devon townshend could ever hope to be.
and yeah, we think mocking them "girls aloud, mingers lol" solves our probs, but it doesn't, they are known to millions as "fine wee talented lassies".
we're still a far way from being ruled by the governement, and an equilibrium/1984 kinda future. but we are already ruled by the media, and people on ugs are the rebels in a way, but someday everyone on the planet will love the same band, will all eat the same food and will all take the same pills.
