I'm looking for a group of young people (ideally 16-24) who have been HEAVILY influenced by this music. My work will ideally look at the influence of lyrics, and the persona of MC's, and whether this has had any influence on today's youth, and WHY. I'm hoping to get more along the lines of direct views and experiences, rather than what 'others do'. I also want to establish links between styles of clothing/labels/fashion on status.
I'm specifically looking for working class kids from inner city areas in this instance (My own PhD incorporates much more...But this is a very specific remit in this case). I'm also looking for people from a variety of ethnicities.
In a nut-shell I want to take part in some conversations that identify the place and importance of the music/culture of either Hip Hop or Grime on young people's everyday lives. I'm looking for input from direct participants, rather than observers.
If you want to take part then please e.mail me at
configa@gmail.com
and we'll organise a time/date for interview (via MSN)
Theres very little academic literature on Hip Hop and certainly NONE on Grime...So this is very much treading new waters.
Many Thanks.

P.S If any mod can make this a sticky for a short while then that would be MUCH appreciated.

...You are on the wrong website if you are looking for working class kids
from the inner cities into hip-hop/grime, Just spend a little while reading some of the posts that have been posted on this site and you will see what i mean. I suggest you take a trip to London, get the overground train to Hackney Central and ask some of the young people hanging around Mare Street, I'm sure you'll find some answers to what you you are looking for.. I dont think you'll find the kind of people people you are looking from here. If London too far, try Leeds Chapeltown or Manchester Mosside, but here, this website....nah, good luck...
