The way your doing it is fine, I do it as well. Heel toe technique is a really hard thing to do, and your feet need to be a small size to do it properly (I'm 11 and I can't get it to work). For examples of Heel Toe type "Jojo Mayer" into google and look fro some of his videos, he is probably the best example. Basically its using your toe to play, then kicking down with your heel, then back to toe.
