he's right btw, if you're with someone hiccuping and you seriously say to them "i'll give you a fiver if you hiccup again", they'll stop.

if you're on your own, what i always do is hold your hands together really tight and breathe in... hold it as long as you can but not too strainedly if that makes sense, when you can't hold it any more, breathe out and breathe straight back in again, do the same again, and a couple more times, and you should be fine.

or drink out of the wrong side of a cup.
