Oh yeah, Damage. The V1 position is the place you want to be experimenting with. It is the preamp tube closest to the power tubes and will affect the sound the most. I'm pretty sure I'm right, anyone know any different?
The tubes i got from bob were ace, only pre tubes tho

If i remember correctly, 12AX7 = 100% gain, 12AU7 = ~70%

The V1 tube is the one closest to the input, and furthest from the power tubes in the signal chain, the driver tubes are closest to the power tubes and have least bearing on the sound i think?
