I find violent porn to be very distasteful, but I don't agree with banning it. As long as the people that made the porn were consenting adults, then I don't think anyone has a right to censor it. I don't agree that there is necessarily a correlation between violent porn and violent acts against women. I am very much against censorship. I think it's a very slippery slope.

Who decides what is and is not offensive?
If violent media is so damaging, then why are the people that screen content for the BBFC not violent rapists?
If violent video games are so damaging, then why do we not see an increase in violence among those who test video games for a living?

Some people might have fetishes or fantasies, that they would never ever want to realise in real life, but they might get off on it when it's in porn. I read somewhere that many women fantasize about being raped but that this doesn't translate into an actual desire to be raped, it's just a fantasy.

The phrase "any 'right thinking' person would find this offensive" really gets on my tits as well. To me, people that use phrases like these because they subscribe to the notion that all their personal moral views constitute some kind of absolute morality, and that anyone that disagrees is some kind of deviant.

I think it's also a form of coercion. Everyone wants to be a "right thinking person", no one wants to be labeled a deviant, so they're less likely to oppose something like this.

The kind of people that use phrases like that, are the same kind of people that would have had Brass Eye banned, if they had their own way.
