seriously man, go for all-valve. In my opinion you will never get a 'really' satisfactory sound from a solid state (okay..."valve state") amplifier. Mohawk is right, 800's are awesome, especially the 2204 model 50watt. I'm assuming you are going for high-gain and volume as you are the only guitarist in your band, for the money you want to spend, i'd say go for marshall. I use 100w tube amps and they would both piss on anything up to 300watts solid state for tone, gain and percieved volume.
Do the right thing man. Buy a tube amp. You won't be disappointed.
