But as what is now a large chain of shops, a certain degree of formality has to be in place, as all the stores (large and small) adhere to the same rules and guidelines for displays, sales procedure etc. This means that some of the smaller shops (e.g. Dundee) will seem a bit more formal than other shops of their size, but also means we have far more reach in terms of the range of stock and price flexibility than shops of a more independent, homespun nature,and far, far more in the way of customer support/ aftersales than online retailer.
However, as far as formality goes, I would still say in comparison to another large retail chain, such as Dixons for example, the atmosphere and structure in our shop is far less rigid and formal.

i like SC - buying anything of any value online can too easily end in tears.
