See that's more like it. I remember playing at Steppenwolfe in Leven of all places. We got free booze, a lock-in, a carry out and £120. I seem to remember Bannermans in Edinburgh paid us for playing. We got paid in the Venue and Studio 24 too. The Union in Dundee pays I think.
My point is that by accepting so little for so long the local bands have unwittingly engineered a situation whereby other people cream off the profits from the band's hard work.
This state of affairs is not peculiar to Dundee but it is certainly more prevalent there than in other places.
Someone should set up a Dundee bands union. You could go on strike. Lol. Any scab band who crossed the picket line and played somewhere for less than an agreed sum would be forever ostracised by their peers.
P.S. Having said all that I would pay to play in the Westie just to hear some nuggets of genius from Stu, ken?
