Yeah I love the tourism argument. Because Buckingham palace and the like would immediately cease to be interesting to tourists if there were no royal family. Also, the royal family has to have legal power in order to be interesting to tourists. Also, the royal family is the only thing in the UK that could possibly be of interest to tourists.

A lot of tourists visit Buckingham palace. Therefore if Buckingham palace didn't exist, then they wouldn't have visited the UK at all.

Oh, don't forget about all the other things they do for us, because those things would be completely impossible if the royal family had no legal power whatsoever.

Also a monarchy serves as a balance, because they could stop laws from being signed into effect if a fascist dictator got into power, because that would totally stop a fascist dictator right in their tracks, and we totally wouldn't get rid of the monarchy if the queen refused to put the rubber stamp on a law.
