nothing modern, low powered AND cheap is that good. The little laney looks pretty reasonable however! i have played laney valve amps before and they surprised me. Slightly harsh at the top end i found, but good all the same. If you can find one give it a blast, i think you might find it quite pleasant on the ear and not a million miles from the fender clean tone you desire
Beware of the false impression the wattage gives though. 15 valve powered watts is pretty close to 60 or 70 solid state watts (i.e. louder than you might think)
My advice would be to steer clear of the epiphone, it lacks versatility, clean volume, sounds mushy and lacks note definition and clarity.
Have you tried the little all-tube fender amplifier in rainbow music? its about £200 and with the tubes swapped out for something decent (tesla) it will sound pretty good. At 5 watts you will be able to get a sparkling, edgy clean tone at reasonably low volume but push the little amp hard and it will easily compete with most 50 watt solid state amps, especially through a 2 or 4x12. You'd be hard pressed to find something that sounds as good for such little initial outlay. of course you could always trawl eBay for a used princeton or champ, but you would be spending more money that way. Hope that helps in some way.
