exactly. I'm a great fan of closed back cabinets, mainly for the focused, tight sound good ones produce, the internal volume (dictated by the dimensions) i'll lift from a mesa 1x12 cabinet, zero hassle in that respect! Have you built a bass cab before man? i'd be interested to hear you thoughts on your ideal constructiuon and layout. When you refer to an open back cab, are you talking about fully open? because a completely open back behaves quite differently to 3/4 or 1/2 open back. its also important when building speaker enclosures to take into consideration your cabinet material and baffle material. different materials resonate in different ways- 3/4 ply will be more sonically dead than, say solid ash maybe.

oh and plenty glue please

rattles are fooking annoying!
