tube heads
----------

Traynor YBA200 - Look for one of these for 'bang for the buck' performance. I'm told they are great amps with excellent flexibility and tone for the price.

Orange AD200 - 200W Orange head, known for its warm kinda fuzzy tone.

Mesa Boogie 400/400+ - Hugely powerful, very versatile head. Due to its comprehensive EQ section a lot of people seem to struggle dialling sounds into this one, but the ones I've heard dialled in right are JUST RIGHT!

Ampeg SVT-CL - Easy to get hold of, and the one you see everywhere on MTV. Again, people claim that the new models arent a touch on the old ones and nowhere near their asking price, but a lot of people use these and are very very happy with them. Find an SVT from the early 70s and have it serviced and many will testify you will be a very happy man.

Ampeg SVT-II (non pro) - A great rack mounted tube head. Ask I_got_a_mohawk about this one.

Eden WT300B - Hugely powerful beast. Really expensive, and i've never heard one if im honest with you! Not seen that many people big them up but its worth looking into.

There a load more but these are amongst the most popular.
