Juliet Kilo
3 Track Demo
Juliet Kilo are an 'ambient rock' band formed in 2004. Their latest release 'Carnival' is the result of a lot of hard work and it really does look like it's paid off for the guys. The three tracks come together to form a nice little package. Each one varied and slightly different from the other with different tempos. The vocals stay fairly consistent through the tracks and I can't help but feel a little variety would be a good thing. Out of the three tracks the first is my favourite; Imploding. It's a nice relaxed piece of melodic rock with lovely vocals, everything seems to fit so well together in this one track it sort of sets a precedent for the rest that follow.
Let's Just Hope picks up the pace, it's a quicker moving track with quick and slow sections, but this and the last track Bridges, are not really enough to set these guys apart for the many other bands doing the same thing and I think that is the key if they are wanting to set themselves out from the rest of the pack.
What they are doing is fine, they are doing it well and no doubt enjoying it at the same time. I wouldn't go as far as to call them generic, that'd be an injustice because they do have some good material here, it's just not enough to make it stick.
The three track demo is available to listen to all on their website, along with the lyrics at
www.julietkilo.co.uk. I definately suggest you check them out for yourselves.
