How would you define black metal? does it have to be Scandanavian for instance, must it be 'underground' music, does it all have to do with satan and church burnings? Obviously not but its rather difficult to define. Emperor for instance...ace band, one of the pioneers of the 'Black Metal' scene in Norway but their recent material is musicly miles ahead of most bands labled as black metal same with Zylkon.
Buuuuuuuuuut, as for calling Dimmu Borgir n COF black metal...well...its a theme for another thread (and no, i wouldnt think of them as black metal).
I gotta be honest, i see metal as being 'metal'. Not, hardcore, or thrash or death...just different degrees of heavyness.
