He's saying you can do a damn fine job on cheaper equipment. I think the difference in opinion between alex and everyone else is what constitutes as "cheap". Obviously is changes depending on the item, but I think you have to also factor in such things as durability and how useful it will be next year, in two years etc etc.

My personal opinion is that after buying cheap stuff that i have outgrown and atsed money on, in the future I will buy more expensive things which I will not outgrow, or will be able to use for longer.
