No, I mean Religion -

re·li·gion (r-ljn)
n.
1.
a. Belief in and reverence for a supernatural power or powers regarded as creator and governor of the universe.
b. A personal or institutionalized system grounded in such belief and worship.
2. The life or condition of a person in a religious order.
3. A set of beliefs, values, and practices based on the teachings of a spiritual leader.
4. A cause, principle, or activity pursued with zeal or conscientious devotion.

(religion - definition of religion by the Free Online Dictionary, Thesaurus and Encyclopedia.)

I was brought up as a fundamentalist believer, and I believed it for a LONG time. Then I woke up and realised it was nonsense.

As for other religions, I have tried to educate myself as much about them as possible and have at least a basic idea of the belief structures of the three major faiths.

In my opinion people who believe things that are clearly untrue ARE idiots and fools. If I told you I believed in Father Christmas would you nod sagely and say 'I respect that' or would you laugh me out of the building?

Yeah, but when God claims, in the Bible, that it is 'his' inspired word and is without fault then it's useful to point out the fallacy in 'his' statement.

Yeah, I know there are loads of them - studied Theology remember? My main copies of the Bible are a NIV version with copious footnotes and a King James/NIV comparison version.

But when the main (only) source of your information for that 'faith' is a book that you admit is fallible surely your faith is blind?

Yes it is, and that's because people are dicks. I just wish they'd stop using the excuse that 'God told me to do it' and 'fess up to their own dickishness.
