And what time are you talking about? My time spent meditating is absoloutely worth every second, believe me.

I am glad you are a fully-fledged scientist, I have a Bsc in biological sciences, gained nonetheless over 10 years ago and my memory of it all is therefore not as good as it used to be, but I do try to keep up as much as possible.

I, however, don't see myself as a scientist, but just me, the human, encompassing all my life's experiences.

I don't believe in god nor do I believe any religious text is worth dedicating your own behaviour to, but do not discount the possibility, which as a scientist you can't either, you can only talk in probabilities.
You can infer things from those probabilities, and that is fine, but you cannot 100% discount something, although that happens in science all the time in order to progress theories.
Officially, I'm a scientist in training but I would describe myself as a scientist in the same way someone might describe themself as a socialist or a christian, in that the scientific method is at the forefront of the way I view the world.
Anyway, I'm not demanding that you justify your beliefs, just saying that "well, we can't know what will be discovered in the future" is justification for nothing. I feel a responsibility to myself to justify the things I hold to be true or very likely to be true. I don't think that everyone should be the same, though.
I'm sure meditating is worth every second for you, I wouldn't be of the opinion that this is due to anything supernatural or otherworldly or spiritual. I'd say there is likely a sound neurological and physiological reason for the calming effect. That's just my opinion.
