Well, slight delayed reaction but here's my take on UFC 79:

Overall, a fantastic event and possibly my favourite of the year. First off, Clementi beating down Guillard went exactly the way I was hoping. Guillard is a thug and if you know any of the back story between them it made Clementi tapping out Guillard all the more enjoyable!

Machida vs Sokoudjou. This was probably the fight i was most excited about. Two fighters who are on the cusp on being great, but in need of a little validation. I was sitting watching this with my Machida t-shirt on so I was more than happy when Machida took him down and proceeded to work him over and win with a sick Arm Triangle

Sanchez/Palalei I saw as the one fight letting the event down. No way it should have been on the main card. Any of the non-televised bouts would have been a better choice.

There's only word to describe the Liddell vs Silva fight. WAR! That was a classic battle and left me with the utmost respect for both fighters. I had feared Liddell's days as a top tier fighter might have been over, but he came back and proved his worth here. If it was anyone other than Silva he was fighting, he would have notched up another KO win for sure. Silva is a fucking rock!

And last, but by no means least, George St Pierre vs Matt Hughes. GSp just completed schooled him. I'd picked him for the win but had no idea it would be THAT convincing. Complete domination!
