I was researching this and apparently there was crime BEFORE computer games.
The "interactive" arguement is complete and utter bullcrap in comparing film to games. A good film will have you relate to the character and feel immersed in what is going on. If anything I'd argue that someone is more likely to commit a crime because they wanted to like a film/tv character than someone from a game!
Then again, just another case of MPs reacting to rare and isolated incidents without any real knowledge or understanding of gaming or games. Sheer ignorance.
Edit: I don't think they should even NEED to ban or increase censorship. They should just make sure these restrictions are enforced. When a kid does something horrible in reaction to a game/film, rather than blaming the game... who the hell provided them with it? "Here you go little Johnny we bought you Death Rape 3, happy 11th Birthday"
