There are a few different species of spider that can do that, but yeah the brown recluse is one of them.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the black widow isn't native to the UK. If there are any, they'll have come across on boats.
(Human boats not boats built and/or captained by spiders, that would just be crazy, but it's a lovely thought for those of you that are aracnophobic)
