Episode 7!!

(MAJOR spoilers below, DO NOT read unless you want to ruin the episode COMPLETELY for yourself!!)

Spoiler:

  • Sun is one of the Oceanic 6!
  • Sun flash forward, but Jin flashback!!
  • Sun has the baby safely, but Jin is DEAD??
  • Jin's gravestone shows his date of death as the 22nd of September 2004, the date the baby was conceived, what's going on there?? Jin is clearly one of the 'eight' who survived the crash, but didn't 'make it off the island'. Remember, the 'current' date in Lost is around Christmas 2004, and Jin is very much alive!!
  • Sun believes Jin to be dead, those are real tears when she's at the graveside with Hurley.
  • Hurley not in the mental hospital! Indicates that this flash forward is BEFORE the events we saw earlier in the season.
  • Ben's man on the boat is......Michael!
  • Naomi's girlfriend (possibly, gathered from the initial on the necklace that Naomi wore), wraps chains around herself and commits suicide by jumping off the boat....and the Captain does nothing! We also see the blood plume up a wall from another member of the crew shooting him or herself...the Captain admits to Sayid and Desmond that some of the crew have got extreme 'cabin fever' and that he's trying to move the boat to safer waters but can't, cos the engines have been sabotaged!
  • The Captain also admits to Sayid and Desmond that the boat belongs to Penny's father!
  • We also get an allegation that Ben is responsible for the 'wreck' of 815 being found with the corpses of the crew and passengers, crashed at the bottom of the ocean - this scene hints that Ben has access to unimaginable resources!! Who the hell is he?? It's clear from the Sayid flash forward episode that he's off the island, but he can't be one of the Oceanic 6....
  • So who is the remaining one of the Oceanic Six? We have Kate, Hurley, Sun, Jack, Sayid, and (assuming Aaron isn't counted) one more? Sawyer? Dunno, he would have been hanging around Kate I would have thought.... Not Desmond, cos he wasn't one of the original survivors, and not Walt or Michael, cos they'd be together....but why did the ones who got off the island lie about the other 30 odd survivors of the crash? Hurley and Sun obviously still have a healthy relationship, but the other 3 seem to be too ashamed to engage with each other, certainly Jack is harbouring some serious feelings of guilt over Aaron and Claire - has he found out she was his half sister?

I'm glad they've not gone with the physical time travel element, too much of that kind of thing would shatter our suspension of disbelief - for this show to work we have to believe that there is an explanation for everything.

Final point, the first flash forward we saw, at the end of Season 3, is clearly the one furthest in the future and (I'm guessing) the point were the story line will catch up with itself at the end of season 4 or 5.

A LOT packed into this week's episode, with multiple 'reveals' that would have easily been good enough to be the cliff-hanger at the end of previous outings (I kept having to check that there was another ten minute chunk left at one point)

Next week is the last one before the writers strike enforced break. Apparently it ties up a lot of loose ends from the season so far and leaves us with a pretty meaty cliff hanger.

Without a doubt, this has been the best series of Lost so far!
