That doesn't make sense. Did you read my reply? I never said that DJ's should play requests.
It's the attitude that the DJ is the last bastion of taste, which is what seems to be promoted here. That you can't even speak to the DJ.
At no point have I ever said that I expect DJ's to play requests.
The best DJ's I've heard are more than happy to share their setlist with you (or they have at the best club nights I've been at), and if you hear a great tune, you should be able to ask the DJ what it is.
I've discovered many great acts this way.
This, is my point.
In this thread, it seemed like the DJ is being held aloof, and I like to get info
from the DJ. After all, if they are DJing, it's because they know the music, and like playing interesting things that fit with the night. They don't have to play requests, because people will be asking them what they are already playing.
I don't expect DJs to play requests.
