With the "the whole point of djing is no requests" attitude is that the DJ is some unapproachable uber denzien of taste and that whatever they are playing is way cooler than anything you could even think about asking for so don't even bother. And woe betide you if you don't know what they're playing because then you're just showing how uncool you are.

bold bit = actually makes alot of sense, but when they are playing their set, its up to them how they put it together and where they are heading to climax, etc. so the last thing any dj will want is someone making requests - like the bouncers would even let you near enough!!
italic bit = fucking bullshit, thats a personal opinion that you apparently get from it, and i dont know any one that does
