Bestselling author Naomi Klein speaking in Dundee, May 22nd

Naomi Klein, world famous author of No Logo is appearing at a free lecture at the University of Dundee to talk about her new book, The Shock Doctrine, which has already been an international bestseller.

Naomi’s talk is held in conjunction with Borders and there will be an opportunity to get signed copies of The Shock Doctrine after the event.

Around the world in Britain, the United States, Asia and the Middle East, there are people with power who are cashing in on chaos; exploiting bloodshed and catastrophe to brutally remake our world in their image. They are the shock doctors.

Thrilling and revelatory, The Shock Doctrine cracks open the secret history of our era. Exposing these global profiteers, Naomi Klein discovered information and connections that shocked even her about how comprehensively the shock doctors' beliefs now dominate our world - and how this domination has been achieved. Raking in billions out of the tsunami, plundering Russia, exploiting Iraq - this is the chilling tale of how a few are making a killing while more are getting killed.

Dundee is the only Scottish stop on Naomi’s UK tour.

Robbie Glendinning, General Managers of Borders Dundee, says, "Naomi Klein is one of the most exciting authors in the world and we're delighted to have her coming...... it's a real coup for Dundee"

Joan Concannon, head of External Relations at the University of Dundee, says, "We are truly delighted to welcome Naomi Klein to the University of Dundee to talk about her powerful new work - shock Doctrine. I am sure that Ms Klein will deliver a thought provoking and stimulating lecture and all are welcome. The University has played host to a distinguished line up of speakers this year who have attracted record crowds - more than 4000. Tickets have been downloaded on our e ticketing system and I am sure that Ms Klein will prove equally popular."

The event will be held on Thursday 22nd May at the New Teaching Block, Old Hawkhill, Dundee. The talk is free, but you must have a ticket to attend.

Tickets are available from the online store, University of Dundee : External Relations : Press Office
