I think the Dundee "scene" was better back then. There were great gigs on all the time. Sadly this is no longer the case. There are still lots of gigs, but the quality has fallen through the floor IMHO.

Totally agree. There were dozens of great gigs all the time back then. I don't think you could put on a 4 day festival (Unscene 99) at Drouthies these days and sell out every single night (the Voigt Kampff night had well over 150 people crammed into the basement)

In answer to the question about Joe - yes, he's the dude who looked (looks?) after Peterson Halls.
Voigt Kampff were an amazing band as well - loops, samples, live strings, live bass, fab vocals....I have their debut album somewhere, and a CDR of their unreleased second album.
This gig was also great -
Not on the poster were the french band Tank, to have Ma Cherie, Tank and MNP on the same bill was pretty cool, especially as all three had vinyl out on Earworm at the time.
