Having been stewing over night, I'm going to have a wee vent too.

Are people here seriously suggesting that it is ok for United to be robbed of a penalty, a goal (possibly two), and the opportunity to play a nine man Rangers in what had become a vital game for us simply because we lost to Gretna earlier in the season? Is that now the rational for defending Old Firm refereeing bias? Amazing.

The argument here has nothing to do with whether or not United should have picked up more points against lowlier opposition earlier in the season, it is about a series of blantant refereeing errors that quite possibly could have cost United a vital point. It is certainly not inconceivable that, had Weir been sent off and had we scored the penalty, we could have overhauled Rangers. At that point we were playing very well, as shown by the goal that was disallowed for no reason and the goal we actually scored.

Levein was quite right to speak out, and also to reference the CIS final were a similarly awful decision cost us dearly. Mike McCurry and his team simply bottled it yesterday, like referees have done for decades at Ibrox (and, to be fair, Parkhead too).

Another thing that has been fizzing away in my mind overnight was the attempted defence of McCurry by Rob McLean on Setanta - "he's a deeply Christian man". What the fuck? What on earth is that supposed to mean? If anything, that's just playing into the hands of the Old Firm factions that wave UDF or IRA flags at games. Why not go one further Rob, why not tell us he's a "deeply Protestant" or "deeply Catholic" man? It doesn't have the blindest bit of relevance to the points raised.

Foreign referees in the SPL? Here's hoping, here's hoping.
