I think part of the reason people love the original trilogy so much is because of their familiarity with them, having grown up with them etc.

Same thing pissed me off with Transformers. People sitting with their thumbs up their arses going "DUH IT WAS STOOPID PLOT, I DIDDUNT LIKE IT". When they handed over their cash were they thinking a movie about giant robots which turn into cars punching eachother was going to be anything more than a movie about giant robots which turn into cars punching eachother?
