extreme drumming

more for motion as i know he plays drums to the extreme! max yo... em anyway...

just started playing extreme metal drums and wondered if you knew any tricks to make blast beats easier... i know the guy from the berzerker uses a sort of hand technique to get really fast blasts but apart from practice i cant think of any way to improve it quickly. my legs move way faster than my hands!

also have you heard of a guy called tim waterson? he plays quads on a double pedal and can do 1407 beats a minute, which is 23 beats a second! he holds the record for worlds fastest feet, which is actually incredible! just type his name into google!

One technique is to hold the stick between your index finger and your middle finger, with your hand facing palm down to the snare, it can hurt untill you get used to it, but it can be really fast. From what i know it's more with the wrist and a tensed arm...as for the feet i have no idea...motion is the man for that.

tim waterson is the drum can man, correct? hes well fast. Just practice doing really fast drum rolls, then move one of your hands onto a cymbal and keep the other on the snare and blast away, thats how i do it. Its a little harder when you wanna hit the cymbal and snare at the same time, i cant do them so fast and i kinda lose time a bit. The best way to get fast is to just practice, there are techniques but i have found them to be of little use, i just play the way i normally do. Although i doubt i'll be getting to berzerker speed any time soon hehe.

I actually have a propper routine for practicing them.

Step1 - Buy "Reign In Blood" by Slayer

Step2 - Get a pad or use your stool as a pad.

Step3 - Turn on the cd with or without headphones

Step4 - Put blastbeats in all the songs whist changing hands when one gets to tired

Step5 - Do it 3 times, each time add in wee fills and stuff.

Step6 - Relax by playing it again but without the blasts.

done. I aint done it in a while, but i will probably on tuesday night or something.

Step1 - Buy "Reign In Blood" by Slayer *done*

Step2 - Get a pad or use your stool as a pad. *done*

Step3 - Turn on the cd with or without headphones *done) (many, many times!)

Step4 - Put blastbeats in all the songs whist changing hands when one gets to tired *i get too excited and just play the sonmgs normally!*

Step5 - Do it 3 times, each time add in wee fills and stuff. *will try*

Step6 - Relax by playing it again but without the blasts. *relax?!*

hehe.

yeah tim waterson is fast as fuck.

cheers for the tips. the berzerker drummer uses the technique that tom pointed out, as i noticed on their dvd, but i've yet to try it out! i can blast for about 10 seconds but them i lose the time and my hands slow down. also, starting and stopping my legs just doesnt seem to work! hmmm...

i need to practice with a band really. pity i play in a punk band eh! you cant really fit many blastbeats into pennywise like songs. shame.

anyone know any guitarists an bassist that would be willing to jam with me in arbroath?!
