Mon The Magic!
finally having what looks like a good season, glad to see Smith's going to get contract deals in the off-season, has really made the franchise work well together.
4 wins in the last 5 including at Detroit too ![]() |

Yeah, they look a dead cert for the Eastern playoffs this year, although I don't think they have what it takes to beat Detroit in the conference finals. Boston have look good all season but are finally starting to show cracks. Detroit are looking constantly better and better and with their blowout win over (my) Suns on sunday, I find them pretty scary right now! In my opinion, the East is just Boston, Detroit, Orlando and Cleveland right now.
New Jersey are just gonna get worse with Kidd gone, and Toronto are there with the top 4 but I don't think they have what it takes in the Playoffs. I hope they prove me wrong though. Have you seen all the trades in the West though? Its crazy intense. Phoenix lost one game and went from 2nd place to 5th, with 9 teams fighting for the 8 playoff spots within 5 and a half games of each other.

the Magic won IN Detroit last week
and looked good! probably one of the best all round games, but aye Detroit are looking pretty awesome.the West is looking pretty nuts, some good trades too so the teams will be battling it out pretty fierce between now and the playoffs! |

Yeah - they beat Detroit... but can they beat Detroit in a 7 game series?
(p.s. I hope so!)The west is crazy after all the trades... Lakers - got Gasol as a centre. He's been great. Suns - got Shaq to fight Gasol. Mavs - picked up J Kidd as a leader + point guard. Spurs - got (ex-Suns)Kurt Thomas from Seattle. All scary stuff... Phoenix just finished playing Memphis and seem to have finally worked out how to run their offense with Shaq in the lineup (with a 127 - 113 win) so I'm feeling better about the whole Shaq thing.

P.S. Magic beat the Nets tonight 102 - 92
If you were to build a decent win streak I reckon you could catch up to #2 seed in the East.

i was gunna watch the game but fell asleep
![]() i think the Magic could beat most folk, if they start strongly i think they could do Detroit over 7, if they have to play catch up, i dont think Detroit would throw it away. |

I went to the opening Magic game of the season, they beat the Bucks pretty comfortably. I don't know anything about basketball, though, so I haven't really got anything else to say. Except that the place was half empty, which I thought was odd for the first game.

the Magic opened the campaign with a home defeat by Atlanta this season.
*wait - i think that was our pre-season... *edit - just got the highlights of opening day up and Amway is packed out, just checked NBA.com and it lists it as 17,519 which im pretty sure is close to a sellout. Last edited by RiseAgainst : 28th February 2008 at 02:31 PM. |

Uh... dude, I was there? I'm fairly sure I didn't imagine the vast swathes of empty seats.
PS. the capacity for the Amway Arena for basketball is 17,248 apparently so that attendance was never gonna be right! Maybe they do what some football clubs do and count season ticket holders whether they're there or not. And lots of them didn't go. Last edited by Kenny : 28th February 2008 at 04:18 PM. |
