i fucken wish that im going,dad wanted to go but thought it was too expensive,might go to the beach boys in november though.

Actually I heard that the Datsuns were gonna play right after Brian's done, to bring everyone back down to the normal level of drudgery

And Ritch, I would advise you not to go and see "The Beach Boys" cos it's Mike Love's band, and it's like a cabaret version of the Beach boys. There bound to do Kokomo too.

yeah i know.....but i do like mike love.if only they didnt take soo many drugs and fall out,it could have been a whole different kettle of fish.

I wanted to stick up for Mike Love, but the more i've heard about him the harder it is to defend him. I'd say he's most to blame for Smile not coming out back in 67', he wasn't keen on Pet Sounds either. There are loads more reasons besides, which I can go into if you want me to

. It's a shame Bruce Johnston is in his band, he seems like a good lad.

they were on druuuuuuuuuuugs lol,valid excuse i recon,maybe.yeah bruce johnston seems great,think ill go anyway,i go to pretty much every gig i can anyways.

yeah but they never indulged when they got down to the business of writing classic tunes. A lot of stuff is blown out of proportion too, like Brian putting a sand pit under his piano. It doesn't matter cos' it inspired him to write "Surf's Up" and "Cabinessence" among others. Mike is famously quoted as saying "Don't fuck with the formula", he should have joined a record company instead of joining the beach boys

beach boys post brian wilson is just embarrassin (with the notable exception of disney girls) he was the beach boys really, so it's lie some form of plageurism, i dunno, just wrong.

brian wilsons solo stuff is shit hot too altho a bit heavy on the saxophony in bits. imagination is a spectacular album, sounds dead christmassy too. and the roxy theatre live one just shows how great a band he has assembled. and love and mercy is one of the most beatiful songs ever written.

Couple of points:P; What do you mean by Post Brian beach boys? Cos' Disney Girls is on Surfs Up (71') which is a great album. Their last great album was "Love You" (77' I think) which was preceded by their first awful one "15 Big Ones". The only good stuff past Love You is Dennis Wilson's stuff.
Brian's solo stuff is a bit cheesy but it's still pretty good.

i won't pretend to battle with you on the beach boys knowledge front, u know all, and yeah, a lot of it is cheesy, good cheesy tho. u see tho, i am more of a brian wilson fan than a beach boys fan, probably because no one knows of it and i like to be 'alternative' i just think that even the beach boys songs are played better now with the wondermints than they ever were with the beach boys. just pure musical genious!

Would you say that Brian with the Wondermints sound better than the Beach Boys on record though? I remember when the Pet Sounds live album came out, Roger Daultry said it was better than the record. As good as the live shows are you can't be the original in my opinion
