The Rocket Summer, in a tiny wee pub in orlando.
Absolutely incredible show, Bryce interacts so well with the crowd, at one point even playing half a song in the middle of a circle in the crowd which was really cool. He says they should be over here sometime soon so anyone who hasn't already seen them should definately go check them out, although there's no way a Barrowlands gig could come close to this. Socratic, This Day and Age, and Adam Richman were all pretty good support acts too, but nothing fantastic. |

Tom Vek!
Supported by Beer Jacket (who Nick and I missed) and the Fall Out Trust who were amazing! Went along tonight after being asked to by Nick and drunkenly agreeing sometime last week...I was plesantly surprised. Having not heard an awful lot of Tom Vek material, I was converted to a Vek follower after a couple of songs. I was really impressed with the Fall Out Trust who came on and just blew me away almost immediately. They played punchy songs with the effect that Franz Ferdinand give you but with the emotion of Easyworld and the drive of JJ72. Now, okay, some people might go 'Fuck off! that sounds totally shite!' but I assure you, it's really quite good in my opinion. Worth a shot... Tom Vek played a fantastic set...I think I'll have to listen to some more of his records. Nick was saying that he's better on record and having not heard much on record, I can't really agree or disagree. I was a bit shocked at the man himself though...I'd been expecting a complete 'indie kid', if you will, to take to the stage and camp it up to the ladies in the crowd. However, he came on with a big grin on his face and pulled some of the most atrocious dance moves I have ever seen. A set full of energy from all 4 musicians on stage (especially the drummer- I've never seen a face distorted in that way until tonight...) with some really upbeat numbers and some numbers that just kept you tapping your feet and nodding your head in time to the beat. A great gig...One of the better ones that I've gone to on a spur of the moment. Only £8.50 for the gig, free beer and money for a bit of pizza on the way home. Excellent night. Tom Vek- not for your typical indie crowd. |

Everyone singing along to 'A little late...' and 'Ores' was just magical. |

I went to see Steve Vai with Eric Sardinas in Glasgow on Friday night. The show was absolutely amazing again.
They didn't play Attitude Song which was kinda strange but My Guitar Wants to Kill Your Momma with Eric Sardinas made up for it. Highlights for me: Billy's solo, Antics involving playing someone else's guitar behind your back and then swapping right hands so you're playing left hand of a bass and right of a guitar - impressive stuff. And the acoustic part kicked ass too. |

POLYSICS!
They were pretty much great. Relentlessly loud, fast and fun. I couldn't make out half of the stuff the singer was saying between songs, but it didn't stop me thinking he's TOTALLY GREAT. |

well as i was at taste of chaos last night I seen. (not in order)
Reggie and The Full Effect- short set but played 'get well soon' so happy enough Story of The Year- better than i thought they were going to be,got the crowd pogoing. Killswitch Enagage- excellent pit! shame the vocals weren't loud enough.nice cameo by Bert from The used too. Rise Against-fucking yas!!!!!! loved it! The Used- same as above the bands on the side stage were allright but not great and we left before Funeral For a Friend came on. Last edited by RussellOrGoose : 10th November 2005 at 02:49 PM. |
