john scofield, john patitucci and peter erskine playing a couple of sets of jazz standards and scofield and erskine's own tunes. unbelievably good. 3 of the most famous american jazz players of these times playing in perth of all places, who'da thunk it. they're doing a couple more scottish dates but with a chamber orchestra, not sure i'd really be into that and cant afford it anyway. tonight was funky as hell though, in the jazziest way possible mind.

Sparks, at the Carling Academy in Glasgow. Amazing, amazing show. There are very few bands who have been around for 35 years that could be as compelling as ever now.
They did two sets. One of their new album, which was actually better than the "greatest hits" set, partly due to the conceptual/performance aspect of it. Still, it was fantastic to hear 'This Town Ain't Big Enough For The Both Of Us' 'The Number One Song In Heaven' and 'Amateur Hour' etc live. ![]() Awesome! |

kanye west last night. he was really good, had a great dj, big string section and backing singers. secc was a bit shit as usual but he's got some great tunes. support band, sa ra partner collective, were quite cool too. sounded a bit like outkast/nerd type stuff.
