Morse Code if for Amateurs
Katy Bar The Door Someyoungpedro at a charity gig in Edinburgh Uni's Underground bar in the Teviot Union. Morse Code...were really quite good. They had similarities to YouthMovie Soundtrack Strategies and Shellac (2 bands I really 'dig') and the drummer was amazing! Really cool and collected band. The guitarist had a spazzy leg and you couldn't hear his vocals/screaming very well but still, a good set! Lovely pauses in the music too. Claimed we were the best crowd they'd ever had... Katy Bar The Door are now a 5-piece! My friends boyfriend joined the band about 6 months ago on guitar and they sound so much better than they used to. Ritchie (I think that's the vocalists name?) insisted on singing with his back to the audience but as they realised that the crowd were actually enjoying their set, he began climbing the wall of the union and doing balancing acts on top of amps etc. The sound was very very good last night. Vocals came through brilliantly, the guitars weren't too over powering... I was a little bit disappointed with Someyoungpedro. They came across as 'noise' however, from what I could make out of the bass- that was fabulous. Really dirty, Mclusky-esque bass noises. I think the guy actually wanted to be Jon as his legs gave way just like Jon's. Plus he had the glasses taped to his head also. The drummer was very good and the guitarist thrashed away making a din which at times was quite tuneful. Overall, I have to say that Katy Bar The Door stole the show for me tonight for sound and crowd interest/participation. Dundee gig goers can make up their own mind of Someyoungpedro and Morse Code is for Amatuershere when they play with Findo Gask and Hey Enemy on Thursday in the Reading Rooms pre felt. |

hanson. once i got over the fact that the whole crowd was entirely made up of wee girls, who screamed really loudly all the time. it was a really good gig, the band are really tight, and mmmbop followed by wheres the love made me smile, a lot! plus all the stuff off the new album was ace.

...the Bluetones!
I danced and danced and smiled and bopped about and drank beer and danced some more. They were incredibly good. Mark Morriss is still looking good! And they played 'Keep The Home Fires Burning'! Wee! |

Hell Is For Hereos in The Furnace, Swindon/TJs(the venue where Kurt proposed to Courtney apparently), Newport/and The Cluny, Newcastle. All were kickass shows and they are very nice guys too.
