Went to RR to see Million Dead. First support band were rather listenable but went way overboard rocking out with lead guy spending too much time going down to join an uninterested crowd. Was entertaining watching him make a tit of himself though. Next band wasn't my cup of tea. Seemed very unoriginal and uninspiring imo plus the genre of music isnt to my liking and they were very err typical of it. Then Million Dead came on. Screaming just annoys me and thats all the vox did, plus some singing. In all they were even more bland and irritating than the others. Not that i think they were bad, just i found myself yawning and eating my plastic cup out of boredom. Yummy...
ps if someone knows the band names and cares to classify what genre the bands were much appreciated. i just think of them as kerrang crap ![]() |

same gig as develion. arrived a couple of songs into the sound explosion's set, what a lot of bollocks. second band, days of worth, more bollocks. million dead were pretty damn good i thought, although the sound at some parts was quite dodgy. the guitarist was playing some really cool things. would like to hear the new album when it comes out.

support was shit, Million Dead were a big letdown. no way they're anything close to Refused or At The Drive-In, no passion, no intensity, more like Feeder than anything else.

Aberfeldy! With support from My Latest Novel and King Creosote at the St. Brides Centre in Edinburgh.
Wow. Great venue, great gig. My Latest Novel grew with confidence and then delightfully announced that they'd been signed to the Bella Union label the night previous! So they're off to record an album next week. Expect good things! Quite like Aberfeldy with their sound but not as 'upbeat'. The vocalist looks a lot like Ian Curtis... King Creosote was great Very enthusiastic and banter between songs was great. Their set was very nice, not as twee as I had perhaps thought it would be but it was still lovely and I thoroughly enjoyed it. And! Weeeee! Aberfeldy in all their lovely hot glockenspiel action glory! Loved their set with a passion. Nick (hotellounge), his mate Tony and I were watching infront of Riley (who was wearing the most awful white suit in the world EVER)...Nick and I were the only people at the front of the gig who were dancing! Poor show I thought so I bopped some more. They played a couple of new songs last night which were very good and perhaps more upbeat than anything on 'Young Forever' so I look forward to hearing them on the next offering of loveliness. Excellent gig, might go and see Aberfeldy play next weekend... |
