Dropkick Murphys/Bouncing Souls
last night (2nd March 05) was a great show. liquid rooms was a great size for a show like this and as always at a Murphy`s show a massive diversity of characters in the crowd all got along great and had a nice big singalong. the god awfuls played first and i`d never heard much of em before but they were great, a bit too much of the obligitarty George Bush bashing but if i`d had a spare tenner i`d have bought thier album, some good snotty punk.
Bouncing Souls were sounding fucking brilliant, was so great to see em live again, Gregs vocals sounding better than ever and kudos to the sound team for getting it pretty much spot on. could not have asked for a better set closer than "hopeless romantic", "gone" and "true believers" !! Awesome. AND they played "east coast fuck you" , brilliant. the Murphys were great fun as ever, Ken Casey seemed a little upset that due to the stage restrictions, the usual crowd pile onstage at the end of their set was not gonna be possible tonight. bit gutting but one lucky prick got to go up and make an arse of himself singing "Bar-room Hero" with the lads and everyone seemed to enjoy it. strange set with notable ommisions including "finnegans wake" (which i thought would be a cert considering the pub next door to the rooms is called that), "for boston" and "skinhead on the mbta". great show |

the souls being one of my favourite bands, wlel i have to say that gig ROCKED!
i got to speak to Pete after their show, which was cool! he's a nice guy! didnt get to meet the rest of them, have done in the past, and all are great guys. my only complaint is that the souls were not on for long enough! The God Awfuls were a lot better than I expect, and I enjoyed their set. I wish I had had some extra dosh to buy a CD and help them out. the murphys were a lot better than i expected, and while i didnt enjoy them as much as the souls.. it was a great gig. and their stage lineup is so bizarre! exellency! rock on |
