I had an argument with some guys a while ago about hip hop, basically they thought they were black,They were listenin to "gangsta" stuff,I couldnt figure out how they could relate to any of it?
1 They stay in a small fishin town in the east of scotland and not in the ghetto 2 they dont carry guns and have bitches and ho,s hangin off there arm 3 They dont cruise around the town in a low rider, they drive a old fiesta 4 They dont go out at night fearing they might get shot, they may get punched for pretending there black. 5 They aint black and that music has absolutely no relevance to there lives at all 6 If they like the beats then thats cool, but dont try to be something your not,and the fact they would want to live in the ghetto, carry a gun around and worry about bieng killed is just fuckin sad. |

You're post above is exactly the type of response you would expect from someone who has absolutely no idea, no knowledge about hip hop or rap.

the shit in the charts is just that, shit. Its the underground stuff and the dirty stuff you gotta find first, the remixes n all that. Thats where the real rap is.
Some of the commercial rap is good, but its the grimey grimey shit and the alternative shit you have to listen too... for example... DJ Krush Three 6 Mafia Capone N Noreaga Nas Cuban Link Fat Joe De La Soul Dilated Peoples Dubcity Fanatikz (bizzare to the fullest) Non Phixion Pharoahe Monche Project Pat Public Enemy (still going strong in my opinion) Redman and Methodman Royce Da 5'9' Slimm Cutta Calhoun Talib Kweli (look out for his first solo effort) and tonnes more. Continental, UK and US
