That's fucking unbelievable. You should have told them where to go. A) They were shit. B)What would they have done if you'd just gone home without giving them anything? Totally shit. Anyway, thought you guys were class. Pizza Hut by the way. I bet Caffine never even got the Sicilian. Clearly a quality investment for all the family. 4 foot fingers were class. I thought they were with Dug's mum at the end, "You've just been fingered".

At least 6 different fliers, online publicity, posters on all poster boards in Dundee, its just a shame the band had no pulling power. But then again, Dundee is notorious for not supporting its local talent.

man, you Aberdeen bands got it ok up there, thriving scene and everything, Dundee is like the biggest challenge going. If you can get the peeps outta their comfy chairs, you'll be doing a hell of a lot better than alot of Dundee bands. I'm looking forward to see you lot back in Dundee real soon.

i'm supposed to moderate the youth forum but i've forgotten my user name and password for this site - there are just too many to remember in life. K.J can you e-mail me the info to niceguypete@hotmail.com
Anyway - THE CAFFIENE GIG i agreed a fee its my fault they were told they'd get cash and being a man of my word (when i remember what my word was) i stick to it, with a little help from Kev who i'm now in debt to. I think Caffiene were shit, fair play to those who didn't watch them i felt like leaving too. But the other bands kicked ass (how good were 4ft fingers) and anyone that came along would of had fun. but not enough people came along. More Support - We Can RULE I've learned my lesson the hard way but i feel if we can stir up a scene and get everyone along to the shows, talking to each other and dancing it will take off ( kind off like those old school discos when you hated the music but ejoyed the company, except with good music, unless Caffiene are playing). I think geek core should not be something run by me and kev it should be run by all the local bands as a kind of carrot to attract bigger bands without having to rely on good ole John Cockshanks or as a sign that this is a gig where you'll catch up with you new found mates, get pissed and have fun. So if your interested in being a part of it all leave an e-mail address and we'll talk- espesially local bands who are more estblished LETS ALL HELP EACH OTHER AND HELP THE SCENE!!! join our club, join our club, join our club - and if you all hate the name it could change! sorry i'll shut up now. Pete |

it seems to me that the promoter, being fully aware of the difficulties of packing out a gig in dundee, shouldn't have agreed to pay £300 in the first place. if you lure a band to your venue with a lot of money, you haven't really got a leg to stand on when you complain about them actually asking for it. live within your means.

they arent blaming the turn out on caffeine, the poor turn out is a result of the dundee scene not being that big. and yes, their source of income is gigging in the band: not taking from the guys bank account! in saying that, it's never a good idea for promoters to "guarantee" cash. it's an experience people'll learn from (i hope)...

Right I'm the guy who runs the Caffeine site and a few facts:
Everyone does realise that the "promoter" is a 16 year old kid who partially organised the gig so he could play on the bill right? He had NEVER done anything like it before. The guys did NOT DEMAND anything like he's saying, just had J(from Caffeine) on the phone and he's not well pleased as they did it cause their friends in Quik knew the guy. The guys in Caffeine are lovely and 3 dates with The Offspring? I'm sorry obviuosly the first gig I saw them at never happened Caffeine first supported The offspring in early 99 after unwritten law pulled out of the tour and they became good friends with Noodles and so when they needed a new support band at short notice on the 01 tour they droppped Caffeine a line they did NOT pay for the slot. They're just disappointed in the back stabbing going on now if the guy had a problem with them why didn't he say so? p.s. the 4Ft fingers love the guys in caffeine and played the rest of the tour 8 dates sharing a van together, so in short Misled Kev shut your mouth! Also the poor turn out may have had somet to do with it being the only daye that didn't have pre-sales(you couldn't buy a ticket till that night) cause the other shows were packed! |
