Important Lance News!! everyone read!

tonight we told Lucy that we felt having her as our singer wasn't really working out. We think that what she has to offer as a singer doesn't really suit us and if we were to carry on progressing as a band we needed a change. We all really like Lucy and it was nothing personal we just think it's about time that we start to re-address some things about the band.

that being said, things are changing quite a lot with us just now and we really hope you're all going to like the things you'll be seeing/hearing from us in the coming months.

we also had to let Gemma go, we thought she was one of the best sax players we know and if she only had the same opinions as the rest of us, she'd be really good in the band. The bottom line with Gemma is simply, she's not interested in ska... at all. but that's the way things happen sometimes.

with those two departures i'd imagine you're all slightly confused so i'll give you a bit of a run-down of what spaceman lance are now:

Luke - Lead Vocals/Guitar
Andy - Lead Vocals/Guitar/Trumpet
Jonny - Bass
Me - Drums
Rory - Trombone
Amy - Sax

with these changes it's important that i make clear we won't be playing the adequate 7 gig anymore neither will strike at the source, it's hoped that Channel 9 and Pummel will be available to take our places but i'll keep you posted.

this means that our next/first gig will be on June the 4th at Carnoustie Leisure center with dijon and maxwells dead it's free entry so take the oppurtunity to come see what we've changed for free

we'll still be recording with robin on the 10th 11th and 12th of june to produce a 6 track cd that you can all buy from the howards alias gig (june 20th) onwards. the suggested tracklisting will be:

Steve Danger
Working Title
Half Shandy
Rio Grande (the new version now with andy doing verses and luke doing chorus' - i think)
Liberation (with luke singing the verse)
and if we have time another new one, if not maybe my ska song.


please let us know what you all think of these changes, we're doing everything in an attempt to be a better band so i hope everything works out

if i've missed out any news i'm sure a band member will tell me.

just wanna say that i think you have totally made the right decision! so no regrets!
i love lucy and i will be sad to see her go,but on that note i felt that as a viewer of the band she didnt seem right for it,and i know a few others that will vouch for that!
so i look forward to hearing the new and diferent spacemanlance!!!!x0x

yeh it is a good step - vocals should be heard and ska singers should hav a bit of get up and go to get the crowd going

i dont think u had either before (no offence) but now those issues will hopefully be addressed.

luke has a theory, you can't really be punk as fuck, you can only either be punk or not punk. i disagree, i mean that would put abbott on the same level as tim armstrong which just isn't right!


but yeah, the vocals were kind of lacking, she was a good singer, just not a very ska singer. things will be changing now though

Good decision...you need someone who can jump around and stuff. SHould actually go around and search for a lead vocalist who purely does just that...lead vocals.

yea guys, that was a good call, Lucy was getting better but as much as I thing she rocks, the improvement wasnt strong or quick enough to make to worthwhile I feel. And with gemma as well, its been coming for a long time now and the threats hadnt seemed to get her ass in gear and now you've got Amy who seems pretty focused, so wise desicion
