I used to live a bit away from my mates, easy enough to cycle, or indeed walk. Guess hard to be ditcher/ditched when people couldn't really drop by without going quite a bit out of their way.
The use of phones was a rarity but half time when someone would ring up asking if i wanted to go play footy i couldn't be bothered. Given the big hill on way there i'd be knackered before we play :/ Still went out at least few nights a week for a good ol' game. Ahhhh good times. |

My poor lonely childhood. Plenty of McDonalds' though, and a stack of Beanos for company. "Oh ZX Spectrum, you'll never ditch me for the cooler kids and slag my family off like that GERMAN EXCHANGE STUDENT BASTARD FROM THE ARMY HOUSES ROUND THE CORNER will you?" *hug* Actually. Much discomfort probably hugging a Spectrum. Jaggy. One time, these kids I considered my "friends" from my little kind of Barratt's 80s housing "SOLUTION" of a few dozen semis, well.. I'd just got back from being on holiday to WALES and I had bought a magic set with my holiday money and I went round to show them and they threw bits of it down a drain (cundee if you will). ![]() That is one moment I always remember when I hear that true cliche "Kids can be so cruel, eh?"

I was avery shy when I was a kid, and I still am really. Because they were so infrequent because I avoided them as best I could, I can remember pretty much every telling off I ever got at school. |

My school kept telling my parents I was some sort of genius and so they bought me loads of books and I used to just sit in my house and read.
I occassionally played outside with my next door neighbour, but I wasn't allowed to cross the road or go any further than about 20 feet either side of my gate....wasn't much fun playing on a bike in that space... |
