the author are a great band but the vocalist was shit. he kept on using the excuse that he had a cold like we havent heard that before...
I talked to him afterwards and he seemed like a nice guy although a bit camp. he was also a little forlorn and depressed. He obviously thinks hes a rock star. The lead guitarist on the other hand is fucking stunning. musical critisism: very good songs but the bass was to loud and the violin and lead guitar wernt loud enough, but maybe Im biased coz the lead was so beautiful. |

Well, I thought it was a rocking night.
For a debut, it was as good as I have ever seen and having heard them live with drums and amp's for the first time, I was very impressed. Cannot agree with "singer was shit", he seemed a little nervous if anything and I know the guy CAN sing! Like them all, his vocal instrument is something he is a master of and like the rest of the elements of the band, with time it will develop. I think the major point for me on the night was that everything is there, all can play, of that there is no doubt, but yes, the Lead needed turning up a fair bit, knowing how the guitarist can play, I was looking forward to him play, but I struggled to hear him, so yes, something for the next gig there. Even so, the talent came shining through, especially in the last number, don't know the songs name, but believe me, there is enough there, with the right production to have a hit single! But is commercialism an option for this new band? Same problem with the Violin, but having spoken to the Bassist, I know there was an issue with the sound engineer, never mind, it was still a damn good set and yes, the girl can sing and play. Cute piece of kit there! (The violin!) Bassist was competent and didnt drop many notes though the runs were fairly routine for the most part, I'd like to see the guy stretched a little so HE can find out just how good HE could be! Drums, no such problem, definately a "music man" who can play other instruments and can't half sing, if this guy picks his instrument, sticks with it and goes for it, who knows where he could end up! He probably falls into the Dave Grohl (is that how you spell it) school of versatility. Or even that loathsome little creature (but admire his talent) Phil Collins, this lad can sing better and probably plays drums better though like the bassist I dont think he was stretched, though I don't think there was a beat missing all night while he was in his seat. Which leaves me with Lead vocals/Guitar(s). I think the more this front man is that, a front man, the better he will get. It was noticeable that when the second band came on, the first thing the vocalist did was move his mike away from the drums and the middle of the room, he was there to be seen, he filled the room, he had presence and confidence. You do not expect the same from a debut gig, but that would probably be my only critique of the vocalist, like the rest of the band, he needs to believe in himself more and get in front of a crowd more to hone his craft and confidence. Overall though, I was impressed and yes, all the elements are there. Hard work, plenty of gigs, a bit of luck and the support of those around you all and there is no reason this 5 piece cannot go all the way! If not this year then next I expect to see you at one of the bigger festivals! Congratulations, well done and looking forward to the next one. Woody |

I can only describe friday night's gig as WOW! for it being you guys' first gig i was very impressed, to git two bands like elysium and krank solo for your first gig takes alot of balls and boi did yous pull it off, Blackened lungs take note this forum was in SUPPORT of local unsigned bands, yeah rhuari's vocals were slightly off but give the guy a break it was his first gig and it was at the path. What we dont want is childish comments like "the singer was shit" and "The lead guitarist is hot". Sure if you wanna criticise the guys by all means go ahead but next time put some thought into what you say and then maybe we wil take you seriously and use your criticism to make the band better. As for me these guys know how johno and i feel about them, where goin all the way with them "Yeah baby Yeah" and you know it johno. Im out xx
