On Dec 6, 2005, Toshiba Corp said Toshiba has filed an appeal to a higher court after it was granted a new trial in California in an ongoing legal dispute with Lexar Media Inc. over trade secrets for flash memory chips.

Toshiba Corp, Japan legally succeeded the theft of NAND flash memory technology in USA.

Toshiba Corp will purchase some of Micron's semiconductor technology patents and also license patents previously owned by Lexar Media Inc. for $288 million, according to a joint statement released on Sep 15, 2006.

Toshiba Corp was punished with $380 million and $84 million for Lexar Media Inc on Mar 24, 2006. And the money ammount isn't enough for the suffer of Lexar Media Inc.
(However, if the sufferer didn't change small Lexar Media Inc into bigger Micron Technology Inc, Toshiba Corp would pay no money.)
