Higher Maths

Didn't know if this was to go anywhere else but anyway!

Did anyone else have it today?

I thought paper one was okay, but paper two was damn hard!

I thought paper 1 was well hard!! And paper 2 was pretty difficult too... I predict a C, maybe a B if I'm lucky.

AH was hard. few hard as fuck questions but i predict a pass.

Lindsay, these days, you cant get an int2 a from sitting higher, you just fail. Count yerself lucky

i'd be well happy with a B as thats all i need to get into Edinburgh Uni. There were some questions i couldnt do at all. I thought the log one in the calculator paper was hard, but thats cause the teacher was barely there for teaching us them. Also the last question on the non calculator paper where you had to find the equation of the tangent, couldnt do that one at all!

Predicted A, I very much doubt that.

It counts as a D these days, got one for physics last year

aye but a D sounds crap so you dont tell people about it. At least when you got the Int2 A you could pretend you only sat Int2. I know someone who got a D last year too.

I got an A for physics last year :P

It not just a simple differentiate, put equal to zero, solve. use y-b=m(x-a)

It's all 42!

I did CSYS Maths I (general) and Maths V (mechanics). I got a B in Maths I, which i was pretty pleased with seeing as the entire class, bar one girl, failed the prelim and almost had the course withdrawn for the following years. Maths V i got an E in cos i lost interest pretty quickly, got half a free colum for "study" and the teacher was never there. Sadly it coverd most of the Physics type stuff that has been the bane of my time at University.

Mike likes Maths.

Mike doesn't like Physics

Mike does degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering.

i was crap at maths

it didn't help my dad used to be maths teacher and my maths teacher knew that and used this at every opportunity to patronise the fuck out of me.

my brother and sister were shit hot at it though which didn't help. me and mysister used to swap each other's homework. she'd do my maths and i'd do her english. sorted

yeah, most people i talked to thought paper 2 was easier, but i found it the other way round... it's 'cause i spent 1/2 figuring out how to do the last 2.

(i eventually remembered that a.(a+b+c) = a.a + a.b + a.c, and after 10 good minutes of staring at my paper worked out in my head what "the range of values of p for all roots of the equation to be real" meant)

What's this int2 malarky?

I left school the year before higher still came in (and from what the teachers said it was going to be like, I'm glad I did.)

Nope, if I'd actually done higher maths it would have been 11 years ago (as I was more likely to have done it in 5th year than 6th year!)

The Higher Still program is set into Intermediate 1, Intermediate 2, Higher and Advanced Higher.

In general, if you pass your standard grades at foundation you go into a int 1 level class, general- int 2 and credit- higher. It's all a bit gay.
