I did do a maths module at university, which seemed to require you to know higher maths to be able to understand it.

Somehow, without understanding any of it, I managed to get a 7 on the exam ( the passing grade is 10 ). I have no idea how that happened.

Did you go to abertay? If so, you probably passed because richard paris would CUT YOU FUCKING DOWN if you failed.

I went to Abertay, but I got some guy called Colin for the maths class, at least I think that was his name. He was a nice guy, but I couldn't understand his notes for the life of me.

that's the L2- norm btw.. more generally defined for complex vectors. L2 is just one particular type of norm.

Even more generally, the double bar sign just denotes a norm (defined on a normed vector space)

I had no idea there was a difference between the bar and the double bar. I suck.

It wasn't so much the bars that confused me, as the little two beside them... Especially since there was one on the next page that was squared and also had the little two and made me head explode

Every time I have made a statement like that to a game programmer, they've always said that they hardly ever use maths in their job. True story.

When I mentioned the fact that I don't know calculus, one of them told me I don't really need it, as long as I know my vertex and matrix math.

Does anyone know how to find the intersection point of two axis-oriented toblerones?

Anybody?

God that was a nerdy joke, and I am fucking lame for finding the concept of a tolberlone being used as a bounding volume funny. This is a big sign that I need to take a break from programming and go outside methinks.

about the double bar Scott.. yeah it is used to denote the norm of a matrix too- it's a general notation for a norm on a generic normed space. The single bar is usually reserved for the L2 norm of a vector or the complex modulus
