No, these people are awesome, and serve a very important purpose. It's really fucking annoying when a load of people come in and hijack your preferred genre with commercial shit, that bears no real relation musically with the genre it claims to be. Especially since this marginalises the music that was originally in that genre, so that it hardly gets any airplay any more.

Also, a less important side-effect, is that it gets embarrasing to say that you like said genre, because then people automatically assume that you like "Cutty McCutterson and the Cutters", and their latest album "I cut myself for attention because I am an angry 16 year old in the body of a 28 year old, and everyone in my band wears stupid fucking masks to make teens think we're frEaKy. Also, the font my band name is written in, probaby has a backward letter or looks like it was scrawled on the jotter of an angry teenager. Not to mention the fact that everytime I get interviewed, I go on about how my music is like if you bottled up the head of a dead dog, and then shit in the bottle, and then after 100 days the bottle exploded from all the rancid gasses inside it, because that's how extreme I am"

It's the kind of stuff that comes out of the hardcore scene that pisses me off. Straight edge vegan morals ethics diy, also you must have the same political views as me or you are not a true fan of hardcore ok.

Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with everyone who is straight edge, or vegan, or holds certain political views,it's just some people take these things to annoying extremes. I get great pleasure from browsing myspace on occasion so I can laugh at these people. The best ones are the ones that have something like this on:

i remember when bands took emo as an insult. but i still blame the media. cos it was the press that kept throwing the emo label at these bands until they couldnt be bothered arguing anymore and accepted it

Yeah, he's generally respected as being the father of emo music. Funeral for a friend were very much inflenced by them when they started the genre of emo.

you guys say you hate labels etc even though you label ppl as emo and scene every1 is the way they wanna be so why label ppl or judge them... if u wanna label yourself fair enough.. but dont say you hate labels then do it to other people!
