bars and nightclubs change their name generally when a new owner comes along or the place has gained a reputation! they do this to either show hey this is mine now or to try and change the fortunes of the business here is a list of places in dundee I know of that have changed their names.
Mission (church beside deacon brodies) - I first knew as mission then foundation, on air east ,fun pub. Templelane - Pivo, slattery's Sheridans - flares Deja vue - Brannigans Grissle Jaffreys - Jaffreys and i beleive its changed its name again but dont know it satchmos - beat bar stoozys - the unicorn doghouse - freelance and firkin malones - o'neills Jumpin Jacues - Engima, De stills Westport bar - mambos Breas - Raffles The social - cul de sac number 25's - Howies Nether Inn - Parlimentry Sessions bar - Paramount, lucifers mill Sessions club - cooler Tonic - popl nero Bar rio - Leonardo & Co Cotton club - cindarelas, oxygen, colleseum The Bank bar - the hogs head The old horseshoe bar - mercantile Allstars - Rat and parrot Yuppies - Bar none london - afterdark, circus opia - castaways lennons - stance and drum, Bar Valencia the yard - the underground Its late so i cnat think of any more although there is loads |

I actually thought that Beat Bar was a pretty shit name, I like the name Satchmos.
I reckon name changes are usually fair enough, if you want to change the reputation of a pub the best way to do it is with a fresh name. No new name ever really sounds that good, seeing as how the name tends to adopt the association with your opinion on the establishment -- the slate gets wiped clean, meaning if you liked the place before, you will probably like it less once the name changes. Until you get used to it anyway. Damn those GSD... bastards. |
